At stake in the skirmish are trademarks worth millions of dollars and a piece of Jackson's legacy.

The estate did not immediately respond to requests seeking comment about how Katherine Jackson's support for Heal the World is impacting the case or the estate.

"Please do not believe them. It's not true."

He said Johnson's aim in applying for various trademarks was to preserve them for the charity and protect them from others. In the meantime the estate has worked to repair major financial damage incurred by Michael Jackson during his lifetime. The "Thriller" singer died more than $400 million in debt, but in the first 17 months after his death earned more than $310 million, court records show.

More than $9 million has been paid to and for Katherine Jackson and her son's children. Nearly $4 million of that paid off the family's longtime home in the San Fernando Valley, with portions of the rest paying for security, staff and other expenses for the family.

Sanders was hired late Thursday after Katherine Jackson's former attorney publicly cast doubts about the authenticity of her filing.

"Bottom line -- I am going to do anything in my power to try to tone down the rhetoric that has happened to date to the extent possible," Sanders said.

The estate accused Mann of trying to secure Jackson copyrights for profit, which it said would deprive Jackson's children of money they are owed.

HTWF Lawyer's filed their Final Brief as well. Their main point is similar to what Melissa Johnson said in her testimony before. They argue that "she acted with authorization granted by Michael through his representatives and with blessing of his beneficiaries Katherine Jackson (and his kids)". They again say that they didn't need a licence because they are the same thing as Michael. They state all their arguments will be supported by Oxman and Bain and Katherine.
Interestingly "Michael intended his family and his kids to continue on with HTWF" is added. I wonder how they come to this conclusion. It's quite a stretch from "Michael gave me his authorization to run HTWF" to "he wanted his kids involved in it". Even if you go with his will he wanted 20% to be given to a charity chosen by a committee, in no place he wants his family and kids be involved in the charity.
and a tidbit: the agreed facts state that Melissa Johnson have not ever spoken with Michael.

Und wenn man nach seinem Testament geht, wollte er das 20% an Wohltätigkeitsorganisationen gehen, die von einem Komitee ausgewählt werden, an keiner Stelle bestimmt er, dass seine Familie und Kinder in die Charity involviert werden.
Und ein Leckerbissen: die übereinstimmenden Fakten belegen, dass Melissa Johnson nicht ein einziges Mal mit Michael gesprochen hat.

Sie kann nichts mehr mit Michaels Namen machen und was ganz wichtig ist Howard man hat keinen Zugriff mehr auf diese trademarks, das war ein ganz wichtiger Aspekt in Mans Vision mit Michael Geschäfte zu machen. Der Estate hätte in seinem Prozess sicher keiner Chance gehabt den Namen Heal the world zurückzuerhalten. Der Estate hat mit dieser außergerichtlichen Regelung einen ganzen Schritt gemacht Mann das Wasser abzugraben.

From the Estate of Michael Jackson: Press reports on TMZ and other media sites regarding the settlement terms between the Michael Jackson Estate and the Heal the World defendants are wrong. The Estate is taking back the Heal the World Foundation and all of the Michael Jackson trademarks it allegedly owned. The Michael Jackson Estate owns the Heal the World name, and neither Melissa Johnson nor her companies will ever be able to use Michael Jackson's name or the Heal the World name.
