Spike Lee-Doku über das Bad-Album

Ich habe Vox angemailt und nachgefragt, ob die Information stimmt, dass sie am 20. Oktober die vollstänidge Dokumentation Bad 25 von Spike Lee senden
oder ob es sich nur um Ausschnitte aus dieser Doku handelt. Hier die Antwort:
Von daher denke ich nun wirklich, dass dem Schweizer Forum eine Fehlinformation vorliegt. Zudem habe ich gestern gesehen, dass Spike Lee die entsprechende Information eines Twitteres regetweetet hat und dies würde er wohl nicht tun, wenn die Info nicht stimmen könnte.

Ich hatte keine Ahnung, was für ein Film das sein sollte, den der Regisseur Spike Lee heute morgen in Venedig vorstellte, ein Film mit dem rätselhaften Namen Bad 25. Ein Mädchen verteilte vor dem Kino Infomaterial (Amerikaner sind eben Profis und gehen zu Recht davon aus, dass Journalisten faul sind), und ich musste feststellen, dass ich um sieben Uhr aufgestanden war und im Nieselregen vor dem Kino Schlange stand, um einen Doku(!)film über Michael Jackson anzuschauen.

Erstens: Ich war nie ein Michael-Jackson-Fan. Zweitens: Spike Lee hat mich immer genervt. Und dann geschah ein Wunder. Der Film, der aufgebaut ist wie eine klassische Dokumentation (Weggefährten von Michael Jackson reden in die Kamera – Produzenten, Tänzer, bärtige Bodyguards, Musiker, Rock-Gitarristen mit lila Fingernägeln und schwarz gefärbten Haaren, Martin Scorsese in jung, älter, alt, Quincy Jones jung, älter, aber nie richtig alt, immer mit dunkel verlaufender Sonnenbrille, ein Sound-Ingenieur mit Schnauzbart und kariertem Hemd, eine Songtexterin, diverse Hintergrundsängerinnen – plus Videoaufnahmen plus alte Interviews plus krisselige Amateuraufnahmen) hat mich eiskalt erwischt. Drei Taschentücher. Als ich das Kino verließ, konnte ich erst gar nicht sprechen.

Denn Bad 25 ist zuallererst natürlich eine bewegende Hommage an den Künstler Michael Jackson – aber auch ein Film über Freundschaft, über Kreativität, über Kunst, über die Achtziger und die Neunziger, über das, was manche von uns mal waren, Mädchen mit Big Hair und Schulterpolstern und Männer in bunten Strickpullovern. Es ist auch ein Film über das Anders-Sein. Darüber, dass es ok ist, verrückt zu sein. Weil nur ein Getriebener zum Genie wird.

As I type this, Michael Jackson's Bad 25 album has entered the UK album chart at No.6. Hurrah. Now I'm old enough to remember carefully opening the shrink-wrap on a cassette copy of the album, as a kid in 1987 and yep, it's still one of my favourite albums of all time. The deluxe edition of the 25th Anniversary album contains the audio CD of his Wembley 1988 Bad Tour concert as well as the DVD, released for the first time and wow, what an amazing show. Serious showmanship and serious vocals. Watch it and witness to a man at his absolute best, aged 30, delivering hit after hit. And yes I'm jealous of anyone who was there, as my first ever concert was Michael's 1992 Dangerous Concert. I won the tickets on BBC Radio Wales, six years before I started working there! I must confess, that the emotionally charged, live performance of Man in the mirror gets me every time and I confess that yes, I shed some tears (once again )when I watched the footage on the big screen, at the London premiere of the brilliant Spike Lee documentary 'Bad 25' a few weekends ago.
That was a special day. Not only did I get to meet and interview Spike Lee on stage, not only did I get to host the whole event at the Odeon West End but I was also able to remind myself Why I became a massive MJ fan at such a young age. His stage and work ethic was and is just awe-inspiring. The music; simply the greatest and still as fresh as it was 25 years ago. The BBC are planning to air Spike's documentary before Christmas, as well as the Wembley 88 show, so make sure you watch it. And wow, Spike Lee. Talk about energy, charisma and star quality mixed with humility..
Although I do feel that I need to apologise to Spike, as on our first meeting in his plush hotel suite prior to the screening, he took a shine to my MJ pin badge that I chose to wear for the event.
Man, I need that pin.' he hollered in front of the Sony VIPS! And I must confess, that I forgot to give it to him. Big thanks though to everyone at Sony for inviting me to host event and thanks to the fans, who a good mix of questions to Spike and John Branca, co-excecutor of the Michael Jackson Estate who also confirmed that a 3D DVD of the HIStory Tour could be the next major MJ release.In summary then- get your copy of Bad 25! How can anyone deny that The way you make me feel and Smooth Criminal are anything but pop classics. Oh and if you ever meet Olly Murs, ask him to do his impression of Liberian Girl!

Mal eine frage ...
Ich bin im allgemeinen immer sehr dankbar für neue infos und nachrichten , aber wäre es nicht sinnvoll , wenn solche dinge auch für die nicht-englischkönner übersetzt werden .
Es werden immens viele dinge gefunden und ins forum kopiert , aber vieles davon nie übersetzt .

@Huckzter ich glaube die meisten Sachen werden eigentlich hier übersetzt. Den Vorpost hatte ich eigentlich insbesondere deswegen eingestellt, wegen dem was ich auf Deutsch geschrieben habe. nämlich dass das Wembley-Konzert wohl zur Ausstrahlung auf BBC vorgesehen ist.

The Spike Lee-directed documentary BAD25, which chronicles the making of Michael Jackson's 1987 hit album and recently debuted at the Venice and Toronto film festivals, will see a limited theatrical run beginning Oct. 19. That's when fans in Los Angeles and New York will be able to screen the doc in exclusive one-week engagements (see locations and dates below).

Examining Jackson’s creative vision, Academy Award winner Lee uses rare footage along with the recollections of Jackson's collaborators and confidants to tell the story of the album. Among them: Martin Scorsese who directed the 18-minute short film for the single "Bad," and Mariah Carey.

The doc is one of several projects timed to the 25th anniversary of Bad. They include a deluxe package of remastered music along with a second disc of 13 rare and previously unreleased bonus tracks, as well as the first ever DVD and live CD from the Bad world tour (shot and recorded on July 16, 1988 at Wembley stadium).
Said John Branca and John McClain, co-executors of The Estate of Michael Jackson, in a statement: “Spike was the only choice for us when we decided to open up the archives and make this documentary. He has done a masterful job taking the audience behind the scenes and revealing how this ‘coming of age’ project was created.”

Edit: Durch die Kinoausstrahlungen in LA und New York wird offensichtlich eine Voraussetzung geschaffen für eine mögliche Oskar-Premierung.

Spike Lee’s Michael Jackson Documentary Coming to Theaters This Month

Spike Lee’s Michael Jackson documentary, “Bad 25,” is getting a short theatrical run before its airing on ABC. “Bad 25″ will play for one week in New York beginning October 19th, and one week in Los Angeles starting October 26th. These will be qualifying runs for the Academy Awards. The TV date is Thanksgiving. The New York theater is AMC at 66 Third Avenue. The LA venue is Chinese 6 in Hollywood. The film is another part of the “Bad 25″ campaign that already includes the boxed set and the various CD/DVD configurations. If you don’t have the “Bad 25″ double CD with the remastered original album and the demos album, you’re really missing something. And then the DVD of the Wembley Stadium show is a rare Jackson live performance. The “Bad25″ has been nicely done by the Jackson estate but a little under-marketed by Sony. The demos are particularly great–something Sony has not capitalized on for some reason.
