British ice dancer Nick Buckland won the first European figure skating medal of his career in Budapest just months after heart surgery. In October Buckland had an operation to correct a condition known as tachycardia, which had caused his heart to beat unusually fast.
Buckland and partner Penny Coomes, both aged 24, sealed their bronze medals with a career-best 158.69.

Michael Jackson's manager: Bieber is bored

Raymone Bain, Michael Jackson's manager and spokesperson from 2001-2009, told Max Foster that Justin Bieber is a talented but bored young man who needs to be redirected.

"I think Justin Bieber, frankly, is a bit bored. He's accomplished a lot, there's a lot of money involved, he's able to come and go as he pleases, and I am not sure whether he listens to his management and his team of advisors or if he does not. But what I am suggesting he start doing is channelling that destructive behaviour into something that is more positive so that he can leave a legacy. He's extremely talented. He's extremely handsome. He has made a lot of money, and I don't think he should just rest in his laurels, I think that he needs to be as Michael Jackson. If he wants to emulate Michael he needs to begin to start laying the groundwork as to how he can be a trendsetter."

She does point out the apparent differences in work ethic between Jackson and Bieber. "Michael Jackson never hung out. Michael Jackson never had a large entourage like that. Michael Jackson never played. I remember in the seven years that I worked for him I suggested we go to a movie and he looked at me as if I were crazy. We went bowling one time when he took the kids. Michael Jackson was about business. He always wanted to be the best. He wanted to be the most successful. He wanted to break the records. He wanted to leave a legacy."

In the music business, the importance of good management cannot be overemphasized. "I think that his management have done a great job thus far but you know sometimes when you get on the level of Justin Bieber or Michael Jackson it gets a little bit more than one person can handle."

When we would sit at the table with him he would get angry when we did not tell him what we really thought, he really would."

Michael Jackson's 2003 compilation "Number Ones," which jumps from #162 to #141, tops the 5 million mark in U.S. sales this week. The album has sold the majority of those copies since Jackson's death in June 2009. It had sold 1,825,000 copies as of the week before his death. "Number Ones" is Jackson's third album to top the 5 million mark in U.S. sales since January 1991, when Nielsen SoundScan started tracking music sales. When Michael Jackson's memorial service was held in July 2009, one of the speakers was Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant. It appears that the 16-time All-Star is once again showing love to the King of Pop, this time in sneaker form.
According to ESPN's Dave McMenamin, Kobe said in a recent interview that his Nike Kobe 9 signature shoe will soon release in a Michael Jackson-inspired colorway. No other details were given, but you'd imagine something silver and possibly...sequined?
Kobe also revealed that there's a pair on the way bearing iconic Air Jordan 3 elephant print. Because we haven't seen enough of that lately. Again, no further details at the moment.

Notable Americans expected to appear on forthcoming stamps include pop icon Michael Jackson, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs , singer James Brown, rocker Jimi Hendrix, talk-show host Johnny Carson, hoops star Wilt Chamberlain, actor Charlton Heston and gay-rights leader Harvey Milk.

The document from the U.S. Postal Service's Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee names "approved subjects" and says that design work on most of them has already begun. But a USPS spokesman told CNN that the list, dated January 7, is still subject to change.

"The postal service is looking to bring more timely, relevant, contemporary subjects to stamps," he told the news agency. The spokesperson said that while the list of pop-culture subjects appealing to younger audiences is extensive and fairly current (dated Jan 7.), it can change.

Possible stamp subjects centering on music icons include Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin. Both are currently in the design development stage. For 2015, look for Elvis Presley and James Brown. For 2016 (but not yet in development) the lineup includes Jim Morrison, Sam Cooke, Freddie Fender, Michael Jackson and John Lennon. Roy Orbison has already been approved and a Sarah Vaughn stamp is currently in development.
