    Kenny Quiller

How many people can say they actually spent quality time with Michael Jackson? Charlotte native Kenny Quiller can. In fact, he got a song-writing credit on Jackson's “Invincible” album for the song "Heaven can wait."
The onetime personal assistant to then-super producer Teddy Riley of Guy and Blackstreet fame, had the fortune of having a song fall in his lap. According to Quiller, a friend left a CD at his house with the song "Heaven can wait" on it. When he heard the song, he knew it would be perfect for Jackson, so he shared it with Riley, who agreed. When Riley presented the song to Jackson, the King of Pop loved it and wanted to include it on his album. Although Quiller didn't write the song, he said Jackson gave him a songwriting credit for the role he played.
"Out of all respect for me, and because I found the song, Michael and Ted Riley and the other writers allotted me writers credit," he said.
So what was it like meeting and spending time Michael Jackson? Quiller, along with Riley, met with Jackson several times in 2000-2001 in New York, Virginia Beach and Miami during the production of the song. He said Jackson was nice and didn't roll with a large entourage. He said he got to talk with Jackson's children, Paris and Prince. And yes, nanny Grace Rwaramba was there.
"One time we were in Virginia watching television and his children asked to turn the television off,” he recalled. “They said their father only allowed them to watch T.V. once a week and they had already had their T.V. time." Quiller said the children also listened to classical music while Jackson was working. Quiller said he and Jackson bonded quickly because they shared a religious background. Both were raised as Jehovah Witnesses.
Once he shared that information with Jackson, Quiller said, the singer opened up and they talked often. Quiller said he wants people to know that Jackson was grounded and knew who he was. He said he believes the singer’s childhood, stardom and religious background caused him a lot of mental anguish that the average person couldn't understand.
"Growing up as a Witness, I have insight on Why he did what he did and Why people thought he was weird and strange,” Quiller said. “He was just human." Quiller said he also believes that because Jackson was such a major icon, people expected the pop star to be perfect, and he was not.
"He wanted to relate to children because they were innocent and didn't have a motive,” Quiller said. “The singer was a little naïve and the court case brought him back to reality." Quiller says meeting Jackson was a surreal experience.
"For me, it's a sense of completion,” he said. “Knowing that I met him, took a picture with him and got my name on his album, its completion. It's something that most people would only dream about."

    Captain EO Set 1985

Michael with Terri Hardin Terri Hardin, is a Hollywood costume builder/sculptor who not only created creatures for EO but also portrayed two of its characters—Idy and Ody—and did stunts for Anjelica Huston.

On working with Coppola on the set of Captain EO:

“Coppola had us improv. There I was, acting with Angelica Huston and Michael Jackson. In one scene we did, Angelica was the boss of a camp, Michael was the camp counselor, and we were the spoiled children. Francis [went] to Angelica and whispered, ‘you are going to fire Michael.’ And to Michael, he whispered, ‘You must get these kids to behave.’ And to the rest of us, the children, we were told not to behave under any circumstances.

“Well, Michael kept asking us to behave, and we just kept being brats. Then Angelica storms in, grabs Michael by the shirt, and literally lifts him off his feet and says, ‘You insignificant little worm – YOU’RE FIRED!’ She then throws him across the room. We rehearsed in large studio and the floors were slick; Michael slid a long way on his butt, and shuttered in fear. Real fear. After that, he would not go near Angelica. He was very frightened of her.”

    On working with MJ:

“Working with Michael was quite interesting. So many people loved this guy in ’85. Not like today, where he is labeled as a freak. He had the mind of a twelve year old then, and I used to talk to him as I would a young boy. He loved to have grape fights in the morning. He would have a crate of grapes sent to his trailer every day just for this purpose.

“Michael also loved to play jokes on me, as I can be very gullible. His favorite was the rattlesnake egg joke. This is the one where you approach someone and tell them that you have just gotten some rattlesnake eggs sent to you and you hand your chosen victim the envelope. When they open it, there is a bobby pin with a rubber band and it makes a rattling sound and scares the crap out of your victim. I was always the victim. Michael would pull this prank again and again on me. As far as dancing or music, though, he was the master. Never had I seen such raw talent.

“[And he] could remember you name, no matter who you were. Once you had met him, he could call you by name from then on. Think of all the folks who have crossed his path. Amazing!”

Tripped Across U.S. in Rental Car After 9/11, Eating at Every KFC & Burger King

Michael Jackson, Elizabeth Taylor & Marlon Brando Road Tripped Across U.S. in Rental Car After 9/11, Eating at Every KFC & Burger King

Michael Jackson, Elizabeth Taylor and Marlon Brando decided to take a road trip in a rental car across the United States after airplanes were grounded on September 11, 2001.

Brando irritated Jackson and Taylor by insisting on stopping at almost every Kentucky Fried Chicken and Burger King restaurant along the way to fuel his huge appetite and obese frame.

Vanity Fair reporter Sam Kashner wrote: “Brando allegedly annoyed his traveling companions by insisting on stopping at nearly every KFC and Burger King they passed along the highway.

“One can only imagine the shock their appearance caused at gas stations and rest stops across America.”

The trip reportedly began after Jackson invited the other two to New York for his concerts on September 7 and September 10 at Madison Square Garden.

However, the September 11th terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon, postponed all flights in the U.S., so the three friends chose to drive for their return to California.

According to a former employee of Michael Jackson, the three friends traveled a total of 535 miles.

The employee said Jackson led the actors to a temporary safe haven in New Jersey following the confusion of the terrorist attacks, before they began driving.

“They actually got as far as Ohio – all three of them, in a car they drove themselves,” he said.

Actor Corey Feldman told the journalist that he and Jackson had an argument the previous night at the singer’s concert in Taylor’s dressing room backstage at Madison Square Garden.

“Elizabeth hadn’t arrived yet, and then 9/11 happened. But I remember that [the next day] Michael was trying to get Elizabeth out! He was at first looking for a private jet,” Feldman said. “He wanted permission to fly out—but everything was surreal. I didn’t go with him.”

One of Taylor’s assistants and friends, who requested to remain anonymous, insists that Taylor did not flee New York with Jackson and Brando.

“Elizabeth stayed behind,” he said, “where she went to a church to pray, and she went to an armory where people were who couldn’t get home or who’d stayed behind to look for the missing. She also went down to Ground Zero, where she met with first responders. Eventually, the airports opened and she flew home.”

The journalist was skeptical of the man’s Mother Teresa story, “She may well have done some of those things, though no reports surfaced in the media of sightings of Elizabeth Taylor ministering to the frightened and wounded or showing up at Ground Zero.”

However, since all of the entertainers are dead, none is able to substantiate or dispute the strange, funny story.

Brando died aged 80 in July 2004, Jackson in June 2009, aged 50, and Taylor in March this year, aged 79.

All three celebrities not only bonded over their career experiences, but they also all enjoyed volunteering as activists for AIDS, education and peace.
