Paris, whose testimony was recorded during a deposition in March, said her father still had hits up his sleeve, but needed to take a break from touring.

A lawyer for AEG had asked her about claims her famous dad planned to “retire” from the music business.

“He still had a lot of music that he was still working on, but he kind of needed to relax,” Paris said as the jury watched the footage on a huge courtroom video screen.

AEG played the deposition testimony in an attempt to contradict Erk’s projection that Michael could have pulled in an earnings bonanza had he lived to take the “This Is It” tour across the globe.

Erk had testified that he believed Michael could have parlayed his success in London into higher ticket prices in other countries, and four more world tours stretching into 2026.

Jurors then saw a second clip of Paris’ testimony requested by lawyers for her grandmother, family matriarch Katherine Jackson.

Katherine Jackson said she called Randy Phillips, the CEO of AEG Live, to voice her view that her son could have done 50 shows — but not if they were spaced closely together.
"He couldn't do every other night like AEG wanted him to do at first," she said.
Jackson also said she had called her son's manager, Tohme Tohme, to raise concerns about the "This is it" schedule.
She didn't provide any additional details about the calls.

The decision was made by Superior Court Judge Yvette Palazuelos after defense attorney Marvin S. Putnam asked Jackson several questions about her decision to file the case and she had difficulty understanding and recalling dates.
Palazuelos spoke with Jackson briefly before dismissing her until Monday.
Katherine Jackson has been a courtroom fixture during the civil trial, sitting in the front row as witnesses described her son's creativity and interactions with AEG Live executives.
The Jackson family matriarch sued AEG Live in 2010, claiming it failed to adequately investigate Dr. Conrad Murray, who was later convicted of involuntary manslaughter for giving the singer an overdose of anesthetic in 2009.
AEG denies it hired the doctor or bears any responsibility for the singer's death.

Katherine Jackson also said she had heard from her other children that Michael Jackson was abusing prescription medication, but she didn't know what to believe. She said she visited him in Las Vegas a few years ago to ask him about it.
"He promised, he kept saying, 'I'm OK,'" she told the jury. "Sometimes the mothers are the last to know."
She said she told her son, "I don't want to hear on the news that you're not here anymore."
She did not say when the meeting occurred.

AEG offered Michael Jackson estate $60 million for Las Vegas show

An AEG Live executive testified Tuesday that the firm offered Michael Jackson's estate a guarantee of $60 million over 10 years in a deal that included a Las Vegas theatrical show based on the pop star's songs.

John Meglen said the proposal included a "Michael Jackson campus" at the Planet Hollywood Hotel that would have included the singer's artifacts, two restaurants, a nightclub and stores to sell merchandise.

The show would have been directed by Kenny Ortega, the director of the ill-fated "This is it" 50-concert comeback tour Jackson was preparing when he died in 2009.

The AEG executive testified his company would have paid an additional $40 million to create the show.

"The $40 million gets you to opening night," he said.

Meglen, dressed in a dark blue suit and a white shirt open at the collar, said this would have been AEG's first shot at creating what he called a "conceptual show," rather than one where a live performer is the main attraction.

Conceptual shows, he said, are riskier.

“With the headliner, you have a certain track record of how many tickets they’re going to sell … but if you do a show based on Elton’s music or Celine’s music, it depends on how good the show is, I guess,” said Meglen referring to Elton John and Celine Dion, singers who have done extended runs at Las Vegas hotels.

Meglen said that hearing that Cirque du Soleil was talking to the Jackson estate is what led AEG to make its pitch.

He said they had a meeting with the estate's co-executor, John Branca, in his conference room. Meglen said AEG did a "B-minus, C-plus pitch. In my opinion, they were already down the road and they wanted to do the show with Cirque.”

The Circue du Soleil tribute to Jackson is playing at the Mandalay Bay Hotel, with shows scheduled to open soon in China, Australia and New Zealand.

Meglen said AEG never made Jackson an offer for a conceptual show while he was alive.

“We thought if we could create the show with Michael’s catalog that that could be very successful, but it’s risky,” Meglen said.

The court is hearing the wrongful death case filed by Jackson's mother and three children against AEG Live.

Earlier on Wednesday, jurors watched the videotaped testimony of a physician who said he treated the late singer to help him stop taking Demerol.

Bailiffs confiscated William Wagener's cellphone and ordered him to return on Thursday to find out whether the ban will remain in place or other disciplinary actions will be taken.

Wagener said he inadvertently snapped the photo on his smartphone while riding an escalator. He cooperated with bailiffs to retrieve the photo and said he did not send it to anyone.

The photo is the latest incident that has raised concerns about the security around jurors hearing the negligence case filed by Jackson's mother against AEG Live LLC. Two alternate jurors were approached by a woman last month who told them not to award any money to the Jackson family.

In recent days, tiny windows on the courtroom door were blocked after jurors reported seeing someone press a camera to the window and snap a photo during the proceedings. Videotaping and photography in the courthouse are banned without a court order, and a judge blocked a request by news outlets to broadcast the trial.

Bailiffs or a court clerk give daily reminders of the courtroom's rules, which include a ban on any transmissions from inside the trial or loud outbursts during the testimony.

Wagener, 67, said he posts updates on the trial on Facebook and YouTube and has sold rights to videos he made during Jackson's 2005 criminal trial. He said if he's banned from the trial, it will hurt his ability to cover the case. He said being in the courtroom is the only way to hear the inflection of lawyers and witnesses and get a full sense of the proceedings.

Earlier, in a videotaped testimony, one of Jackson's former physicians described how in 2002 he placed an implant in Jackson's abdomen to block the effects of opioid medications such as Demerol.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- There's a major development in the Michael Jackson wrongful death trial regarding the singer's use of drugs. Newly revealed testimony appears to contradict the recent testimony of Jackson's mother, who claimed to have no knowledge of her son's past addiction.

Jurors heard the most explicit details yet of Jackson's treatment for addiction. It was 2002, seven years before Jackson's death from the anesthetic propofol. Jackson's youngest son had just been born. Dr. Alimorad Farschian said Jackson wanted off of the painkiller demerol.

"I remember that was in Neverland. Michael did show the implant to his mother. Just his mother was there. She was very happy," said Farschian.

Jurors heard from Farschian that Jackson suffered from insomnia years earlier. The doctor's theory is that it was linked to cosmetic surgery: a key part of Jacksons nose was missing.
"It is possible that you produce what they call empty nose syndrome and producing insomnia," said Farschian.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Michael Jackson had a high tolerance for certain drugs and wasn't always forthcoming with his medical history, a nurse anesthetist who treated the singer testified Thursday.

Witness David Fournier told jurors he had worked with Jackson for a decade until the relationship ended in 2003, when Fournier refused to participate in a medical procedure.

Fournier said his incomplete medical records show he administered propofol to Jackson at least 14 times between 2000 and 2003. He estimated he gave the singer the drug numerous other times over the years for a variety of cosmetic and dental procedures.

Rowe's testimony will further help AEG because she'll say she had no idea Michael was secretly going to surgical offices specifically for the purpose of getting high and going to sleep.

She'll also say she's the only person in Michael's world who could control him -- that she's the only one (including Michael's family) who would say "NO."

The testimony could be critical. If the jury believes Michael could hide his hardcore drug use, AEG would have no reason to sound an alarm or take preventative action.

Lawyers for AEG are considering calling one of the district attorneys that successfully prosecuted Conrad Murray as possible witnesses in the wrongful death trial of Michael Jackson, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.

Katherine Jackson is suing the concert promoter alleging that AEG failed to properly investigate and supervise Michael’s one-time doctor, Murray. Murray was convicted two years ago for the involuntary manslaughter death of the King of Pop.

The concert promoter “doesn’t want to put Conrad Murray on the stand for several reasons. First, Murray is a sanctimonious and arrogant, he will make the testimony all about him. He would likely be unwilling to answer the most important questions, and invoke the fifth amendment because he is appealing the conviction,” a source told Radar.

“Secondly, Murray would use the appearance to possibly promote a book/overseas tabloid interview he is planning upon his release from jail.”

The source added, “For those reasons, and more, AEG lawyer, Marvin Putnam, has been in contact with former Los Angeles County District Attorney, David Walgren, who is now a judge, and current prosecutor, Deborah Brazil, whom both handled Murray’s case.

“Both are agreeable to appearing and testifying. AEG needs to present a witness to the jury that can explain Murray’s role in Michael’s death. It’s AEG’s position that no one could have known that Murray was giving Michael a Propofol at night to sleep.”

The decision will be made “in the next several days about if one or both of them (Walgren/Brazil), will be called to testify,” the insider revealed.

“They would both be very compelling witnesses for AEG and the jury would be very impressed with their knowledge and professionalism of the criminal case.”

LOS ANGELES — A former security worker for Michael Jackson told a jury Thursday that he was concerned the singer would overdose on prescription medications in the early 2000s but didn't see signs of impairment in the singer later that decade.

Certified public accountant Arthur Erk, testifying for the Jacksons, calculated that the singer could have made $1.5 billion if his doomed "This is it" concert series in London had blossomed into a world tour, and an additional $500 million from subsequent tours, endorsements and merchandise sales.

Erk told jurors that he was being paid $475 an hour and that his firm had so far billed $332,500. The clock was ticking as he sat on the witness stand, telling the jury how much he was making.

The Jacksons have sued AEG Live and two of its executives, alleging that the entertainment company negligently hired and controlled Dr. Conrad Murray, who administered the fatal dose of propofol to Jackson. AEG says the singer hired Murray and that any money the company was supposed to pay the doctor was part of an advance to Jackson.

When the dollar stakes are far lower, plaintiffs' attorneys, who usually foot the bill for experts, must think twice before taking a case. The amount they can collect — even if they win — might make it not worth their time, lawyers said.

Expert testimony can backfire. The Jacksons' attorneys liked the deposition of AEG expert Dr. Paul Early so much that they played portions of it during the trial. Early testified that addicts shouldn't be blamed for their problem.

AEG has not called him to the witness stand.

The fees that witnesses charge can vary greatly. Gordon Matheson, head of Stanford University's sports medicine program, testified as an expert for the first time. His fee was $500 an hour. Matheson testified that Murray had conflicts of interest that would probably lead to poor medical decisions.

That forced the Jacksons' attorneys to call anesthesiologist Emery Brown, who holds endowed chairs at Harvard and MIT and is considered one of the world's experts on the anesthetic.

Brown, who testified in a video deposition, said he was being paid $1,000 an hour but that he was donating his $75,000 fee to Massachusetts General Hospital.

LOS ANGELES (CBS/AP) — A jury heard videotaped testimony Friday from Randy Jackson, who described more than half a dozen interventions his family attempted to try to get Michael Jackson to stop taking prescription medications.

Randy Jackson, the pop superstar’s younger brother, said several of his siblings were involved in the efforts, and they occasionally brought interventionist doctors to try to convince their brother to go into rehab. The superstar always refused and kept his family at a distance in the final years of his life, Jackson said.
